Rev. Jack Herman

Senior Pastor
pastorjackh@juno.com

Pastor Jack has been our Senior Pastor since the summer of 2002. He has a Bachelors degree in Bible and Aviation Technology from LeTourneau University, a Master of Arts degree in Missions from Columbia International University, and is currently working a doctoral degree. Pastor Jack began full-time pastoral ministry at the age of 27 in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983. He served as the Pastor of Discipleship, Youth and Small groups at Grace Church of the C&MA, a church of 700 people at that time. Pastor Jack then served in church planting and teaching ministries in the Philippines as a missionary with the Alliance for 16 years before coming to Cherry Tree. He loves to study the Word of God and proclaim its truths for the building up of Christ's church.  He is grateful to God for a wonderful team of staff and leaders at Cherry Tree who are together seeking to follow Christ. Pastor Herman and his wife, Joy, are deeply in love with each other and the six children God has blessed them with. Pastor Jack enjoys spending time with family, fellowshipping with other believers, developing friendships with those who do not yet believe in Christ, reading, and watching and playing a variety of sports.

Rev. Robert Ellenberger
Pastor of Visitation and Seniors
bobellen@verizon.net

Pastor “E” has over 55 years of ministry experience, including serving in six previous Christian and Missionary Alliance churches, all of which were in the Western Pennsylvania District. In 1996, Pastor E semi-retired and joined Cherry Tree’s staff part-time primarily serving in visitation and seniors ministry. He and his wife Flo have been married for over 60 years and have a son in Virginia and a daughter in Michigan. Pastor E is thankful that the Lord has used him and Flo at Cherry Tree and feels blessed to have opportunities to spend time with people, sharing the Word and encouraging them. In his spare time, he enjoys following sports, reading, and visiting family. Particularly memorable during his time at Cherry Tree has been the wonderful fellowship with other seniors through Cherry Tree’s seniors ministry.

Rev. Travis Deans

Pastor of Adult Discipleship
tfc@teensforchrist.org

Pastor Travis has served part-time on Cherry Tree’s staff since 2004. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Youth Ministry from Moody Bible Institute and also serves full-time with Teens for Christ ministries. He and his beautiful wife Judy were married in November 2004 and welcomed their daughter, Evangelina, to their family in May 2010. His role at Cherry Tree is exciting for him because he loves helping people go deeper in their relationship with God. In Pastor Travis’ free time, he enjoys reading, watching movies, hiking, camping, fencing, biking, and concerts. Some favorite Cherry Tree memories for Travis include going to Creation, men’s retreats, and concerts.

Tammy Nichols

Director of Children’s Ministries
thenicholsplace@yahoo.com

Tammy is the newest member of Cherry Tree’s staff, having joined us as the Director of Children’s Ministry in January 2009. She has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and has experience teaching in both public and private schools. Originally from Somerset County, Tammy, her husband Tod, and their daughter Abby began attending Cherry Tree when they moved to Uniontown in 2006. Working in children’s ministry is exciting for Tammy because of the opportunity to see children accept Christ as their Savior and then grow in their relationship with Him. Tammy’s other interests include reading, cooking, going for walks, spending time with family, and homeschooling her daughter. A favorite memory of Tammy’s during her time at Cherry Tree is when her daughter accepted Jesus as her Savior after a Bible lesson in Junior Kidz Church.

Gwen Shoaf

Administrative Assistant
ctallch@verizon.net

In August 2006, Cherry Tree was blessed when Gwen joined the church staff as an administrative assistant. Prior to that, she earned an Elementary Education degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003 and then served on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. On June 13, 2009 Gwen married her sweetheart Brian Shoaf, who has two sons, Kameron and Kallyer. What Gwen likes most about her job is getting to know many different people in the church and having a helping hand in many different ministries. When she isn’t keeping the church office running smoothly, Gwen enjoys trying new recipes, reading a good book, and spending time with her family. One of her fondest memories during her time at Cherry Tree is spending a week with the junior high girls at Mahaffey Junior Camp.
